About Newbawn Wild Bird Feed

Newbawn Wild Bird Feed is based in Newbawn Co. Wexford. You can find our premises just off the N25 road from Wexford to New Ross.

We have been providing nourishment to Ireland’s wild birds for over 22 years now. Our peanuts are imported from around the world. We only purchase peanuts that are safe for birds to eat we have a stringent list of factors which must be met before we accept any consignment of nuts.

Most of the ingredients for our Newbawn Wild Bird Feed are grown here on our farm and then blended with some imported seeds to increase the nutritional value of the seed.

Quality of Our Bird Feed

The quality of feed especially peanuts is very important. Make sure that you get your peanuts from a reliable source and that the peanuts have been tested for a fungus called Alfa Toxin. This is a very toxic fungus that will attack the livers and immune systems of birds and will over time cause death.

Salted peanuts, processed snacks, bacon rind or uncooked rice SHOULD NEVER be fed to birds as they can be fatal.

Stale food should be swept up and disposed of from around the feeding site. Faeces should also be washed away and the area and feeders should be disinfected with a solution of sodium hypochlorite. This will help prevent the spread of any infectious diseases or viruses such as Trichomoniasis which has had a devastating effect on the greenfinch population in recent years.
